ROADMAP: DECEMBER

19.12.2023
A closer look at upcoming Updates

Roadmap December Blog.png Asphalt 9: Legends
It’s been a while! The team has been hard at work, and I think it’s about time we pop open that bonnet and have a look ourselves.

We’ve been continually looking at what our Community has had to say, particularly on our Discord server, regarding our latest updates and changes. Not only to inspire our changes, but also to really understand how our recent changes have played out in-game and impacted our players.

For this reason, we’ll be covering an important change in course, along with other upcoming features in our latest Roadmap Post. The light is green, so let’s race into it.

END OF SEASON TOKENS

As you know, we recently introduced Season Tokens into our game. We initially intended Season tokens to be a new way for players to interact with our Seasons, allowing for more reward flexibility and a way to reward players more for participating throughout the Season.

However, our community let us know their concerns early, and we’ve been keeping a close eye on your feedback throughout the entire evolution of Season tokens, trying to adapt our strategies and react to your suggestions.

Although we feel like Season Tokens are in a much better shape than when we first started, we don’t really feel like they provide a valuable enough addition to our Season’s experience and has provided a great deal of frustration and uncertainty to our players, which we apologize for.

For this reason, we’ll be taking a step back next Update, and starting after our Dragon Race Season, Season Tokens will be removed from the game.

Thankfully, given the fact that Season tokens expire upon season end, we don’t foresee any major issues from a technical aspect, and given Community feedback and reactions, we’d much rather take a step back and review all that we’ve learned, rather than continue with our current approach.

We’re not saying Season Tokens are gone forever, as there have been some positive aspects we'd like to explore further and potentially bring back in the future, but for now Dragon Race will be the last Season to feature Season Tokens.

As always, we’re incredibly grateful to our community for being so forthcoming with their feedback, as it always helps us understand things from a different perspective and has provided us with the necessary insight to take this big step.

NEW FEATURE: OVERCLOCK

Ever wanted to add an extra “oomph” to your car? We got you! Next Update we’ll be introducing Overclock to the game. A new feature that will provide a temporary stat boost to your car.

Each Season, a selection of cars will be available for Overclock. The selected cars will be featured throughout our season events, to guarantee that you’ll get the most use and value out of overclocking a car.

To Overclock your cars, you’ll need to use “Overclock Chips” (name still WIP), which will be made available both through offers and obtainable as rewards in Season Events.

Overclocking a car will have a limited duration but will not be limited to specific events or game modes.

We’re still working out the final details, so stay tuned as we’ll be offering more info closer to release.

DRIVE SYNDICATE – THE STORY CONTINUES

As you read this, you’re probably enjoying our latest Drive Syndicate chapter, Future Sparks. And as we mentioned in our last Roadmap post, we want to continue to dig deeper into the story.

Continuing our efforts, where we dug deeper into the stories of the Bear and Lizard via our short stories Firebreak and Wildfire, we’re going to have more storytelling events next year!

This time, we’ve been hard at work on a Comic, which will continue the Story after Drive Syndicate 8, and follow our heroes as they go deep into another of the Blue Rabbit’s crazy plans....

But no spoilers! Make sure to follow Drive Syndicate 8’s Norwegian Heist and stay tuned for the next chapter.

GAMELOFT ID

Next year, we’ll be introducing Gameloft ID to Asphalt 9: Legends.

Initially released for Windows, Xbox and Steam accounts, the Gameloft ID will be a new login system that will work across all our Gameloft titles and allow you to also easily access your account across different platforms.

We’ll be expanding across more platforms throughout the year, to allow for even more flexibility to be able to choose where you want to play, so you can expect it to be coming to Android and iOS later next year.

These are just a few things that we’re hoping to release within our next update, and there’s plenty more we’re already hard at work on, so stay tuned for our next Roadmap post!

Once again, thank you all for your continued support throughout the year and for all the feedback you’ve shared along the way.

We hope you have a great Holiday season and that you have fun with our Festive Season in Asphalt 9: Legends!
